Sodium Alginate


A sodium salt of alginic acid extracted from selected varities of brown seaweeds, used widely in food industry for texturizing and stabilizing.
It forms a viscous colloidal solution with water, is insoluble in alcohol.


Synonym: Sodium polymannuronate

Appearance: Colourless to slightly yellow granules

Application: -Used for gelling, thickening, stabilizing and emulsifying in food industry
